new ending

As I was standing in the pit I felt the dreary darkness cover me I knew the pendulum was close. so close I could feel my last breathes coming nearer and nearer wondering if this was the end. Then I saw the dark shadows of the pendulum lined up with my forehead then all I can feel is the darkness..

Team Poe

Without a doubt, I would be on team Poe. I just really like reading his story even if they are a little disturbing. Sometimes it's a drag to read things that your assigned but whenever its Poe I usually find it very interesting

connection to nature

I think a big thing that we relate to in nature is rain. Sometimes people relate rain to a really bad thing, especially if you have plans but then it starts raining so you can't do what you wanted to do. Sometimes rain makes you reschedule things...like sporting events. But sometimes rain can be a really good thing. If there is no rain for a long time and it finally rains it's kind of like a relief. Especially to people that need rain like farmers or after a drought it can save a lot of things. I guess it just depends on the circumstances how rain is percieved.

McCarthy Hearings

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lAur_I077NA

This video is interesting to me because seeing McCarthy talk about this is more realistic than just reading it. I never really realized that YouTube has videos that are historically helpful. The McCarthy hearings were the first hearings televised in US history. Media plays a huge role in society and in my opinion, these hearings being shown on TV showed the whole nation what was going on. They didn't have to be involved in the issue to watch it. Without it showing, I believe it wouldn't have been as huge of a deal as it was because the public wouldn't have had such a wide knowledge of the issues.

The Crucible Act 1

After reading the first act I found it interesting that upon speculation of witch craft the first person the people blamed was Tituba. In every story where a crime or an investigation takes place it always seems like there's someone like Tituba to take the blame. Probably because she's very different than the rest and to them, it's only common sense that she would've done something wrong. The other part I found most interesting was when the psalm was being sung and Betty woke up and then chaos breaks out and the girls just started shouting accusations of other women in the town that they believed to be a witch.

Squanto

http://douglawrence.files.wordpress.com/2009/11/thanksgiving.jpg

Squanto had a really big impact on the Pilgrims. He was from the Patuxet tribe and after a great sickness was the only member to survive. Squantos English was very advanced because he had traveled to England and other places across the Atlantic. Upon his return to the new world Squanto encountered the Pilgrims and stayed with them for around 18 months. His help was crucial for survival. Squanto was said to help the pilgrims build warmer houses to help them through the winter. He taught them how to plant corn, where to plant it, how to fertilize it, and when to harvest it. Because of this advice the Pilgrims farmed around 20 acres of corn. After the corn was harvested Squanto taught the women how to prepare it. Squanto also advised the pilgrims on realtions with other Native Americans. He was able to act as an interpretor and he was able to help them with trading expeditions. Without all of these things taught to the pilgrims by Squanto it would be very difficult for their colony to survive.

Captain John Smith meeting the Native Americans

This is a picture I found while searching for John Smiths relations with the Native Americans. I found this picture interesting because underneath the picture the website said a few things suggesting that this was Smiths first encounter with them. After reading in class about this, I questioned the website because I was under the impression that Smith and the Indians did not fight upon his arrival and that the Indians later supplied Smith and his crew with food for survival.

Native American Reservations

Every summer since probably 5th grade my friend yahtrickyahh (Danielle) go to northern Wisconsin and while we are there we visit a Native American reservation. One year I bought a really awesome necklace for around 5 dollars.. I don't know if you can see that..but it looks similar. The lady that was selling these hand made all sorts of necklaces. While I was talking to her she said that her tribe was the Forest County Potawatomi. This lady said that she makes a lot of stuff out of turquoise because in ancient times their jewelry was mainly made out of that and feathers.
http://www.doubledeedeals.com. has a lot of necklaces that look like the ones this lady made. I go back and look for her every time I'm there but I never see her anymore.
